Cristiano Ronaldo has finally ended his silence with the media and has stated that he remains extremely happy at Real Madrid.

This finally ends rumours about an impending departure especially after the arrival of Rafael Benitez. The former Real Madrid player is someone who favours defensive football more than attacking threats. As a result, he is believed to be looking at the possibility of making Gareth Bale as his number one player since the Welshman is equally good at defending. Ronaldo is often criticised for not tracking back and making several other defensive mistakes.

The Portuguese superstar has been in a self-imposed exile from the eyes of the media over the last few months. This is after a lot of stories speculated about his reported unhappiness at Madrid. The media have also been quick to jump on the fact that Ronaldo often looks for personal success rather than team success. After reading the season without any major end of season honours, Ronaldo is reportedly keen to get back to the pre-season training in order to build for a successful campaign. On a personal note, the 30-year-old had a very successful 2014-15 season with more than 50 goals in all competitions.

He managed to win the Spanish Golden Boot award ahead of Lionel Messi.”I haven’t spoken to the press recently. I’m making an exception with A Bola now just to reassert that the reports that have attempted to create conflicts between me and Real Madrid are absolutely false. I’m very happy at the best club in the world. I’m completely focused and have faith that next season will be filled with success. Real Madrid and I are fine,” said Ronaldo. The statement from the Portuguese star alone will not help, as he continues to be linked with a return to Manchester United.
