Michel Salgado fans would be delighted to learn that their favorite soccer star has joined up with football legends to help out Yolanda survivors. The Spaniard has duly accepted invitation from Zinedine Zidane & Ronaldo to support Philippines by taking part in eleventh annual “Match Against Poverty” which is scheduled for 4th March.

The support match has got its backing from FIFA and is to be hosted at Stade de Suisse.

The proceeds gathered from the game would support Philippines’ recovery efforts from the devastations brought by Yolanda Super Typhoon (Haiyan), which was touted as one among the most fierce storms to crash down on the planet.

Michel Salgado has already been confirmed for Zidane, Ronaldo and Friends squad. The other players to be accompanying him in the team are Ronald Boer, Steve McManaman, Jamie Carragher, Robert Pires, Christian Karembeu, Calude Makelele, Patrick Vieira, Jens, Fernando Hierro, Gaizka Mendieta, Fernando Couto, Paulo Sousa, Giovane Elber, Deco, Pavel Nedved & many other contemporary soccer heroes.

Erstwhile Portugal soccer stalwart Luis Figo would be joining the team as well. “I am appealing to all to come for the match. It would be a sheer delight to find the stadium completely packed which would enable us to celebrate the game together in our battle against poverty”, remarked Figo.

Patrick Vieira has also extended his support in this struggle against poverty. The Euro UEFA 2000 winner said- “I am really excited about the match. Football exudes a universal tongue & we have to cash in on it to help out Philippines in its recovery”.

Fabio Cannavaro is another legendary player to have rendered support for the match. “It’s an amazing honor to be able to strike alongside all these very talented soccer stars who came up with such potential careers”, Cannavaro added in.
